3 Tips for Making an Informed Vote

Voting is an important right to exercise but it is not something that should be taken lightly. As the general election approaches, now is the time to start researching candidates. It's important to be informed as you make your vote. After all, the people you elect represent you for the upcoming term. As your Presiding Commissioner of Camden County, Greg Hasty wants to help inform voters of some tips for making an informed vote. Take a look below to learn more!

1) Research Candidate History

Get to know the past of the candidate you are considering. The credentials of candidates is an easy way to see if someone is qualified for the task at hand - in your opinion, of course. If they have held office in the past, take a look at the changes and impact they have made while in office. This is a great way to learn about the personal side of the candidate, as well.

2) Tune in to Debates

Debates are a great tool to help inform voters. Candidates typically take turns answering questions on what changes they plan to make in the office they are running for. Voters can learn a lot of helpful information about a candidate and what changes they plan to make if elected.

3) Consider Political Views

As you research a candidate you're considering voting for, take a look at their political views. You can see if their views match up with your personal views and this is a helpful way to help distinguish which candidate will get your vote.

Above we metioned it's important to get to know a political candidate's personal history and changes they've made in office (if they've held office before). Take a look below for a few examples of Greg Hasty's past and positive changes he's helped make over the past four years.

  • As promised 4 years ago, The Camden County Commission has authorized a complete rewrite of the ULC of Camden County. We’re fixing many long-standing problems, and reducing the COST OF HOUSING. If I have anything to say, which I obviously do, we’ll eliminate the 25 FOOT WATERFRONT SETBACK.
  • The COMMISSION authorized and accomplished the first significant raise of employee pay in 10 years, while ALSO improving the financial statue of the County.
  • As a result of the improved financial condition of the county we received the LOWEST INTEREST RATE available when we refinanced the BONDS to make a 4 MILLION DOLLAR REPAIR to our justice center.
  • We’ve resolved all of the ongoing litigation with P & Z, saving hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars every year.
